Coca-Cola and Disney have unveiled a new global campaign, “Coca-Cola x Star Wars: Refresh Your Galaxy,” designed to celebrate the power of fandom and community. The collaboration builds on Coca-Cola's 70-year partnership with Disney, spotlighting the cultural significance of “Star Wars” and its ability to foster meaningful human connections across generations.
The campaign introduces limited-edition Coca-Cola cans and bottles featuring “Star Wars” characters, alongside creative content and an augmented reality (AR) experience. Fans will have the opportunity to engage with the campaign through collectible designs, immersive digital activations and uplifting messages inspired by “Star Wars” hologram transmissions.
The "Refresh Your Galaxy" campaign is a multi-faceted initiative that merges Coca-Cola's brand magic with Disney's storytelling expertise. It aims to connect “Star Wars” fans worldwide through creative content spanning TV, digital platforms and out-of-home activations. The campaign also features an AR experience that allows fans to scan Coca-Cola cans or advertisements to unlock digital interactions, including the ability to create “Star Wars”-style hologram messages to share with friends and family.
“For generations, Coca-Cola and Disney have shared a commitment to creating moments of joy and human connection,” says Islam ElDessouky, global vice president, creative strategy and content, Coca-Cola. “This collaboration is about more than just bringing together two iconic brands – it's about celebrating the power of ‘Star Wars’ fandom, shared passions and the strength of community when we lift each other up.”
“A cornerstone of Disney's collaboration with Coca-Cola continues to be creating campaigns in honor of fans,” says Mindy Hamilton, senior vice president, global marketing partnerships, The Walt Disney Company. “’Star Wars’ is a powerful cultural force around the world, with millions of fans across generations who carry these stories off the screen and into their lives. This custom campaign is for them and inspired by them.”
The campaign features 21 limited-edition Coca-Cola cans and bottles available in select European markets, showcasing “Star Wars” characters and scenes. Fans can scan these collectibles to access an AR experience that highlights the designs and allows them to create hologram-style video messages. The collectible designs include characters such as:
-
Original Taste: Lando Calrissian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Queen Amidala, Kylo Ren, Ahsoka Tano, Darth Maul, Boba Fett, Poe Dameron, The Mandalorian, Cassian Andor and Emperor Palpatine
-
Zero Sugar: Darth Vader, Yoda, Princess Leia, Anakin Skywalker, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Han Solo, BB-8, C-3PO, R2-D2, Finn and Rey
Exclusive character designs will also be available at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort in California, including The Mandalorian and Grogu, First Order Stormtrooper and Chewbacca.
The campaign, developed by WPP Open X and led by Ogilvy, is supported by EssenceMediacom, Hogarth, Disney Corporate Alliances, forpeople and Momentum. It officially launches this month with collectible cans and bottles available in select European markets.
By combining Coca-Cola's brand legacy with Disney's storytelling prowess, “Refresh Your Galaxy” underscores the power of collaboration in creating innovative campaigns that resonate with global audiences. This initiative not only celebrates “Star Wars” fandom but also highlights the role of marketing partnerships in driving cultural engagement and community empowerment.
