McDonald’s builds on gaming culture with its largest-ever campaign, featuring a limited-edition Minecraft Happy Meal, exclusive collectibles, digital experiences and a new sauce to celebrate “A Minecraft Movie.”
McDonald's is launching its biggest global campaign yet, bringing the Overworld of "Minecraft" to the real world with a “A Minecraft Movie” Meal and Happy Meal, available for a limited time. Timed to the April 4 release of "A Minecraft Movie," this partnership marks a significant licensing collaboration between the fast-food company and the gaming franchise.
Launching across 100 markets, McDonald's is tapping into "Minecraft's" expansive fan base with exclusive collectibles, digital experiences and themed menu items. Fans can experience "Minecraft" both in-store and in-game through interactive elements that merge the virtual and physical worlds.
Collectibles and Exclusive Content
The “A Minecraft Movie” Meal offers one of six collectibles inspired by McDonald's iconic characters and menu items, reimagined through a "Minecraft" lens, such as Grimace transformed into a rare Grimace Egg, reminiscent of the game's Dragon Egg or the Big Mac Crystal.
For younger fans, the “A Minecraft Movie” Happy Meal includes one of 12 film-inspired figurines or Block World toys, extending the in-game adventure beyond the screen.
Digital Enhancements for Fans
McDonald’s is taking the experience further with digital integrations. Each collectible in the “A Minecraft Movie” Meal includes a matching card and scannable code that unlocks a special in-game skin. Fans purchasing through the McDonald's app can also access an exclusive McDonald's Add-On pack in the Minecraft game, introducing new gameable enhancements and tools.

Limited-Time Menu Innovation
The McDonald’s U.S. “A Minecraft Movie” Meal features a Big Mac or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, medium fries and a drink. In a nod to "Minecraft’s" fiery Nether dimension, McDonald’s is also introducing the limited-edition Nether Flame Sauce, a spicy blend of crushed red pepper, cayenne, garlic and sweetness. The "A Minecraft Movie" Happy Meal has transformed the iconic Happy Meal box into a pixelated style reminiscent of the game’s recognizable block world.
A Cultural Moment in Licensing
By merging one of the world's most popular games with its globally recognized brand, McDonald's is creating a cultural touchstone for gaming and fast-food fans alike. With both digital and physical activations, this campaign exemplifies the evolving landscape of licensing, where brands extend their reach through interactive, multi-platform engagement.
