Reincarnated as a Sword is a Japanese light novel written by Yuu Tanaka, belonging to the isekai fantasy adventure genre. The story follows a nameless man who, upon dying, does not reincarnate as a hero or a human like in typical tropes, but unexpectedly reincarnates as a magical, sentient "sword."
Initially, he is stuck alone in a monster-infested plain, absorbing magic stones and acquiring skills by constantly hunting monsters. One day, he encounters a young enslaved Black Cat beastgirl named Fran. Facing a life-threatening crisis, Fran pulls the sword from the ground, and the two form a contract. Fran names the sword "Teacher" (Master), and he, in turn, becomes her protector and mentor.
This work breaks away from traditional isekai tropes, focusing heavily on the heartwarming, father-daughter-like bond between "Teacher" and Fran. Together, they embark on an adventurous journey filled with challenges, working side-by-side to help Fran achieve her dream of racial evolution.
