The LEGO Group is changing the game with its latest wave of Super Mario building sets. For the first time ever, the eight new builds will include minifig versions of Mario, Luigi, and the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom mainstays.

“This is an amazing celebration of our partnership with Nintendo, bringing Super Mario to LEGO minifigure form feels like the start of something special,” says Patrick Otley, Design Manager at the LEGO Group. “Giving kids what they want and need to build and create their own stories and adventures was our ambition, extending and enhancing playtime through these iconic characters. We want to give our fans more freedom to play the way they want to, and with the addition of LEGO Super Mario minifigures, we hope kids will be even more inspired.”
The lineup kicks off with a few familiar locales from the game, as well as brand-new worlds to explore. With Mario’s Pipe Jump, fans can build a 61-piece re-creation of the game’s iconic green pipes complete with a Goomba catapult, a gold coin, and a LEGO Mario minifig. The plumber can also take a trip to the tropics with Mario’s Beach Adventures, or kick back with Yoshi at Mario’s House.
Three new sets put Mario Kart front and center. Racing with Mario features Mario’s kart, a shell launcher, and banana peel obstacles, while Luigi & Bowser Jr.’s Race pits the two characters against each other for a high-flying face-off. Rounding out the roster is Bowser’s Rumbling Race, featuring Bowser, Toad, Goomba, and a brick-built Cow, plus a fleet of colorful vehicles with their own unique racing features.
The biggest build in the wave is Fire Mario & Bowser’s Castle. With this 850-piece set, kids ages 8 and up can explore every inch of Bowser’s fortress, from its boobytraps and hidden rooms to a secret treasure chest laden with gold coins. Bowser, Koopa Troopa, and Goomba stand ready to defend the castle with lava balls, but luckily, the Mario minifigure comes armed with a fiery power-up of his own.
Not to be left out, Fire Luigi gets his own adventure in the 241-piece Fire Luigi vs. Koopa Troopa Battle. Kids can launch Luigi from a cannon to reclaim a tower taken over by Koopa Troopa. Aim for the target, and Luigi will slide right back down to safet. Koopa Troopa might start tossing Bob-ombs, so make sure to check the “?” Block for an extra Fire Flower.
