Three unlikely brands have come together for the latest special-edition board game.
A partnership between Nike, Hasbro, and Victory Creative Group (Lebron James marketing team) has brought us Monopoly: Leborn James Luxury Edition. The game honors James’s career as he enters his 22nd year in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
“It was an honor to work with Nike to showcase the legacy and career of LeBron James through a unique medium like a MONOPOLY board game,” says Jonathan Silva, co-owner and CEO of WS Game Company. “The game was thoughtfully crafted to feature hidden details throughout, paying homage to LeBron’s legendary career on and off the court as he kicks off his 22nd season and celebrates his 22nd signature shoe with Nike.”

The board will also be showcased on November 19, National MONOPOLY Day, at an event for children from James’ I Promise School. The event, which will be at House 330 in Akron, will focus on using Hasbro’s classic MONOPOLY game as a tool for promoting financial literacy among children.
While the Monopoly game has all the classic rules and gameplay, other components differ from the LeBron theme. Instead of the classic railroads, the locations on the board represent James’ four NBA Championships. The tokens include James’ Nike shoe, jersey, Nike basketball with James’ logo, a lion, and a crown. His latest signature shoe, the LeBron XXII, is represented with a blue-plated token.

In addition, Nike and Hasbro are releasing two new editions of the latest LeBron XXII shoe: the Currency, featuring Monopoly money, and the Token, featuring a Monopoly token theme. While the board game will be available only to “close friends of LeBron,” the shoes will be available at Nike retailers starting today and on nike.com starting November 19.
