The Inspired Home Show 2025 was held in Chicago, from Mar. 2 through Mar. 4. Since the pandemic, the home and lifestyle category experienced significant growth in the licensing space. So, the Global Licensing Group (GLG) was excited to attend, learn and absorb the upcoming trends and what people can expect from the category, top suppliers and brands over the next few years.
The team noticed a large number of licensees, licensing agents, manufacturers and distributors at the show. For instance, Aramco Imports – a manufacturer and distributor of cookware, cutlery and other kitchen gadgets – showcased its licensing partner, Hamilton Beach. Kenmore and Mr. Coffee appeared with their partner, Gibson Homewares. Notable home and lifestyle retailers like Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, Target, Williams Sonoma and Macy’s made appearances as well.
Building a Home, Not a House
In addition to some distinguished appearances, the “Making a Home a Sanctuary” trend and desire for personalization, comfort and security has been intensified. The trend became heavily popularized during the pandemic as more and more people spent time indoors. However, it is no longer being seen as a trend but rather a lasting change in consumer behavior. Many companies opted for soft palettes to display products and the addition of technology to allow consumers to customize kitchen and home gadgets to their own needs.
Leatrice (Lee) Eiseman, executive director, Pantone Color Institute, director, Eiseman Center for Color Information and Training, dived deeper into consumers’ desires for softer palettes and described it as the “Welcome Home” color theme. She also noted to attendees that the color trends of 2026 will be deeply rooted in the past.
“When people are uncertain about the future, they invariably look to the past,” says Eiseman, quoting Vanessa Friedman, fashion director, the New York Times.
There were also a few anniversary collaborations showcased at the show. One of the most popular was Peanuts’ 75th anniversary collaboration with Dash. It featured Dash products like mini waffle makers, multimaker mini systems, fresh popcorn makers and Hot2Go personal food warmers adorned with beloved Peanuts characters like Snoopy, Charlie Brown and Woodstock. Dash had collaborations with Peeps and Sweethearts on display as well.
